It was fantastic to get back to NAB, and this year we joined our new partner Bridge Technologies at the show. We had a great time showcasing the Bridge VB440 IP probe and other IP-based solutions for all the different customers who stopped by to see us during the show.
We saw folks from mobile truck companies, from sports production and broadcasting, and from major media companies and service providers. They all recognize that the ST2110 standard and IP-based solutions like these, they can improve their collaboration and use of in-house resources, lower overall production costs, and create better content across more venues, studios, and other locations via an efficiently distributed and managed network.
The technical aspects of ST2110 must enable and enhance everything that needs to be accomplished by the operators and creative people building the shows. The VB440 nicely addresses both, with the granularity for the engineers, and all of the visualization and monitoring tools for the operators. (Simen Frostad of Bridge Technologies and I did a quick video clip on this topic at NAB. Watch it here:
If you look at Bridge Technologies solutions, they’re all HTML5-based — built for remote production with super-low latency. Utilizing tone mapping, and converting the HDR color space to SRG color space you can reproduce very good colorimetry on an iPad Pro. This increases the number of operational positions while reducing the number of HDR monitors needed in a facility or on a truck. No one else makes this possible as far as I know.
Whether you’re an engineer needing to see the elemental flows, PTP timing, or Ancillary Data, with PCAP captures over the network, or you are a camera shader or audio operator needing to see Waveforms, Vectors, Diamond display, or Gamut display for HDR colorimetry. The VB440 with 8 licensed seats with 8 video engines per appliance really does it all and covers all the bases and then some.
We saw a lot of interest in these solutions at the show, and we’re looking forward to more conversations about how advanced the VB440 can be for today’s ST2110 production workflows. If you’re interested in hearing what it could mean for you, let’s talk. We can provide you with a great virtual demonstration, and access to our datacenter in the US so you can get more familiar and train your people.
